We have a fabulous studio space at Fresno State, but it wasn't being used to its fullest potential. There was a giant platform in the way of easy floor movement and the news set was in need of an update.
Thanks to Univision21 in Fresno changing their set, we got to upgrade ours! But first to get that giant platform out.
Have I mentioned how awesome my students are? Welcome to the first day of Fall term 2019! Let's move this monstrosity!
Next: how do we use this backdrop with what we have already in the studio? Pallets, glue, a stapler, and a fantastic student assistant. Why, yes. Set backdrops are dirty!
The donation included two news desks, two smaller platforms, and a blue version of the orange backdrop that we used to update the look of the news set.
Ta-da!
For comparison: this was the old look:
Removing the platform gave us 2 new performance areas: an interview set with removable furniture and a cleared-out green screen virtual area. It also gives us easier access to a standing monitor position to include news video or graphics during on-cam introductions.
Time to play!
